Communities
Here are a some communities where you can learn more about Kundalini first hand. Most of these groups have some connection to the film Awakening the Goddess. Some are spiritual communities with an authentic lineage and teachers who can give you an experience of Shaktipat (Kundalini awakening). Some are groups that have come together with the focus of sharing Kundalini education or doing research towards the scientific research of Kundalini and Kundalini awakening and unfoldment. During this time of Covid-19, most of these groups are offering online, zoom and or conference line classes, meditations and other programs.
Dhyanyoga Centers are the home to a spiritual path known as Kundalini Maha Yoga. This is a path with a an authentic Kundalini awakening lineage currently lead by Anandi Ma and Dileepji. Dhyanyoga Centers are currently offering programs online. Dhyanyoga is a worldwide organization with groups all over the U.S. and the world.
Siddha Yoga is another path with an authentic Kundalini awakening lineage currently lead by Gurumayi Chidvilasananda. Sally Kempton and Lawrence Edwards, who both appear in Awakening The Goddess, have roots with this path. For many years Sally Kempton was a monk within this tradition having been initiated by Swami Muktananda. Like Dhyanyoga, Siddha is a worldwide organization with centers and ashrams across the globe.
The Emerging Sciences Foundation has dedicated itself to the scientific study of the Kundalini phenomena and concentrating on raising global awareness of Kundalini through global research. Michael Molina, Co-Founder of ESF and Corinne Lebrun a Director at ESF, both appear in Awakening the Goddess.
3HO - The Healthy, Happy Holy Organization is a movement that was started in 1970 by Yogi Bhajan. Kundalini Yoga is its primary Yoga practice. Gurutej Kaur and Gurumeher, both of whom appear in Awakening The Goddess, are from this tradition.
Self-Realization Fellowship (SRF) is a worldwide spiritual organization founded by Paramahansa Yogananda in 1920 and legally incorporated as a non-profit religious organization in 1935, to serve as Yogananda's instrument for the preservation and worldwide dissemination of his writings and teachings, including Kriya Yoga. Brother Brahmananda appears in Awakening the Goddess thanks to the Self Realization Fellowship.
Morningland Community
Founded in 1973, Morningland Community is a thriving non-residential Yoga community formed around our unique dharma tradition. We are a self-sustaining urban intentional community that maintains a sanctuary of healing, peace, and meditation open to people of all faiths.
Our spiritual practice is Maha Anu Ati Yoga, a path of kundalini awakening and unfoldment which is sustainable in modern life and a diversity of lifestyles. Our core principles are non-violence and contemplative service.
The creator of "Awakening the Goddess," Kija Manhare, received Shaktipat in this lineage.
